Attendance peaked at just under The church gradually took on a more Contemporary feel and changed its name to Austin Grace Church of the Nazarene in as part of its 75th Anniversary celebration. A period of rapid decline in attendance followed. No new members were added since The pastor proposed disbanding Austin Grace in order to begin a new congregation in partnership with a two-year-old, non-denominational church renting the gym for Sunday services.

A merger was proposed and later approved with around 20 members voting. The merged church took on most of the characteristics and staff of the newer church Center City Austin but remains associated with the Church of the Nazarene denomination. Though it was a merger, the church advertised itself as "a new church plant in central Austin, Tx. The people of Grace Church of the Nazarene had the faith to reach an emerging part of our Capital City with the timeless message of Christ's love.

It's a legacy that keeps giving to our ever-changing community through changed lives and a testimony of God's unchanging truth.
