Frank was hit by a car when he was 14 years old, breaking 14 bones including in his back. Doctors told him he would be lucky to even walk again, let alone get the chance to get back on a unicycle. Frank said he was impacted as a child after two cyclists talked to him about preparing for a journey of their own. Frank, now 20, embarked on a day excursion from his brother's house in Appleton, Wisconsin, and was set to finish in at his sister's house in Phoenix all on one wheel.
Frank was raising money for The Beacon House, a place near the hospital that housed his family while he underwent multiple surgeries and rehab.
