No thanks Delete. Cancel Update. And now I recently have seen for myself the buzz of Magento. In a recent discussion, an executive asked me how Magento compares with ATG. Take price away. I had to think about it for a second. Yes ATG is a robust commercial platform that can just about meet any ecommerce requirement. But what is it Magento can't meet? Although I haven't ATG since 7. But its still open source with all the risks involved with Open source deployment.
The Magento Buzz is real but it will be interesting to see how the landscape evolves overtime and the impact of Magento on ATG and Websphere. I don't think any major retailers will be willing to move to open source due to the risks. But due to the cost of ownership, Magento will be a heavy player in the mid-tier to lower ecommerce sites that will be developed in the next couple of years.
